Plastic Armchairs were first presented by Charles and Ray Eames in the « Low Cost Furniture Design » competition organised by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. These small rocking chairs were first produced in 1950. The organically designed shell made of highly comfortable synthetic material was later combined with a range of legs. The shell on this RAR rocking chair model is paired with four legs in steel wire cross-pieces fixed onto two wooden runners. The current RAR Eames Plastic Armchairs (Rocking Armchair Rod base) made of polypropylene offer even greater comfort. Published by Vitra, these cosy, comfortable armchairs are available in a range of colours and will look great in any room in your home.
