Reissued today by Gubi, the Pacha armchair by Gubi was originally designed by Pierre Paulin in 1975. Pierre Paulin is one of the greatest exponents of French design and has designed some of the most famous armchairs in contemporary design, exhibited in the most prestigious museums. Originally, Paulin‘s first sketches evoked clouds. The French designer imagined a new design form, replacing post-war austerity with a new, much more vigorous approach. The Pacha armchairfrom Gubi thus perfectly illustrates the mutation of 60s design, moving towards a less rigid, more festive and relaxed aesthetic. Pierre Paulin has succeeded in giving real elegance to the rounded, whimsical shapes of the Pacha armchairby Gubi by finding the perfect proportions. The lines of the chair’s stitching add to its elegance. The low, rounded foam seat is slightly raised at the base, where the stitching accentuates the silhouette.
