The Eames Plastic Side Chair is the updated version of the legendary Fiberglass Chair by Charles and Ray Eames. Designed in collaboration with Zenith Plastics for the ‘Low Cost Furniture Design’ competition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1950, it was the first industrially manufactured plastic chair. The Eames Plastic Chair DSW (Dining Side chair Wooden base) has a four-legged base in stained and lacquered maple with tubular steel cross braces. The combination of plastic and wood gives this classic design a warm look and relaxed charm.With moulded polypropylene and the new version of fibreglass models, Vitra has improved robustness, elasticity and comfort. Its polypropylene shell in a range of colours can be combined with three different colours of base to match its environment, whether indoors or out. What’s more, its seat shell can be fitted with a seat cushion or full upholstery in a wide choice of fabric colours. The Eames Plastic Chair DSW offers a new finish and improved comfort. The organic lines of its shell, which follow the curves of the body perfectly, ensure excellent comfort, making it ideal for use around a table or to accompany a small home office.
