Arne Jacobsen designed the Egg armchair, also known as Fauteuil Egg, in 1958, for the lobby and reception areas of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The design of the Egg Armchair, published by Fritz Hansen, is part of a project that integrates architecture and furniture design. In this sense, the Egg Armchair represents the triumph of Arne Jacobsen’s global design. Made using a technique that was innovative at the time by Fritz Hansen, the foam shell has a very distinctive shape that preserves a little privacy in public spaces.
