Designed by Carlo Mollino for Zanotta and produced under exclusive license granted by the Agenzia del Demanio on behalf of the Italian State, The Table Vertebra L.300 in red is a piece that belongs to this extremely rare category of objects where the heritage dimension and the requirement of contemporary design meet with disarming evidence. Its extra-clear tempered glass top is based on an oak-veneered plywood frame, whose solid natural oak support uprights, treated with wax, reveal with total frankness the organic beauty of the material, while the black matte nickel-plated steel stays and feet bring that touch of metallic rigor that structures the whole with architectural precision. It is precisely this conversation between the warmth of wood, the transparency of glass and the severity of steel that makes the Vertebra a piece impossible to classify and impossible to forget, somewhere between the inhabited sculpture and the most sophisticated dining table.
