With the Musciarabia Square carpet, Fornasetti explores visual illusion through a rigorous and immersive geometric composition. Inspired by the « Geometrico » pattern imagined by Piero Fornasetti in 1954 for a screen of the Atelier, this drawing transforms the surface of the carpet into a hypnotic graphic game where lines and perspectives seem to unfold endlessly. Declined here in a square format, the pattern adopts an even more architectural and structured presence. The repetition of forms accentuates the sensation of depth while the trompe-l’oeil blurs visual references, giving the impression of a space in movement oscillating between graphic structure and optical illusion. Hand-knotted in Nepal from 100% New Zealand wool, the Musciarabia Square rug plays on different velvet heights to enhance the relief and depth effects. This meticulous craftsmanship highlights the richness of the pattern while bringing a real tactile dimension to the piece.
