The Can collection was born of designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec’s desire to go beyond creating a simple piece of comfortable, aesthetically pleasing furniture. With this series published by Hay, their intention is to completely reinvigorate the idea we have of the sofa, and move from a complicated piece of furniture to a simple, accessible piece. The Can series includes two sizes of sofa and an armchair, each delivered flat-packed. The piece of furniture is easily assembled at home from three elements: a light yet sturdy metal frame, panels of fabric that stretch over the structure, and thick cushions. The result is a piece of furniture that stands out from other seating with its visual lightness and its welcoming, enveloping lines, perfect for a cosy living room.
